In this video, I interviewed Dr. Jacob Pursley to find out what are the geographic and demographic consequences of Azerbaijan’s invasion of Artsakh, or Nagorno-Karabakh on Sept. 19.
Some 120,000 Armenians were living in Nagorno-Karabakh, where they voted for independence in 1994. Their autonomy was never recognized internationally. Most of the world recognizes the territory as Azerbaijan, which just asserted its control of the region. This comes after a 10-month blockade it imposed on the Lachin Corridor limiting — or outright preventing — the delivery of humanitarian relief since Dec. 12, 2022.
